How do you push away negative thoughts?
C’è chi fa yoga o mindfulness, chi esce con gli amici, chi legge un libro o fa shoppping. L’essere umano cerca di distrarsi come meglio può da situazioni stressanti, per ritrovare sé stessi e il proprio equilibrio.
Some do yoga or mindfulness, while others go out with friends, read a book or shop. The human being tries to distract himself as best he can from stressful situations to find himself and his own balance.
Non è una questione solo del nostro tempo, ma anche di secoli addietro. Troppe sovrastrutture, troppe responsabilità, così anche Federico il Grande aveva un luogo del cuore, dove rifugiarsi, lontano dagli impegni di corte.
It is not only a question of our time but also of centuries ago. Too many superstructures, and too many responsibilities, so Frederick the Great also had a place of his heart where he could take refuge, far from the commitments of the court.
I suoi desideri erano quelli di un uomo semplice: vivere senza preoccupazioni “sans souci”, perciò tra il 1745 e il 1747 fece costruire un castello come residenza estiva. Divenne il suo posto preferito, un rifugio, nel quale si ritirava insieme ai suoi cani anche nei periodi difficili. Persino le piccole riparazioni le faceva eseguire solo controvoglia, perché il castello doveva “durare soltanto finché egli rimaneva in vita”. Questo desiderio, per fortuna, non si è mai avverato e ancora oggi possiamo ammirare questo luogo e come Federico il Grande vivere per qualche ora senza preoccupazioni.
His wishes were those of a simple man: to live without worries “sans souci”, so between 1745 and 1747, he had a castle built as a summer residence. It became his favourite place, a refuge, where he retired with his dogs even in difficult times. Even the tiny repairs were made reluctantly because the castle has to remain only “as long as he was alive.” Fortunately, this desire hasn’t come true and still today, we can admire this place and live for a few hours without worries like Frederick the Great.
