Ci scordiamo a volte della disabilità, sia essa fisica o mentale. Siamo abituati a vivere in un mondo perfetto, dove i problemi non esistono, scompaiono per magia tra un reel di Instagram e l’altro.
Sometimes we forget about the disability, be it physical or mental. We are used to living in a perfect world, where problems do not exist, they magically disappear between one Instagram reel and another.
Come viene accolto nella società una persona affetta da disabilità? E la sua famiglia? È il disabile che deve integrarsi con la comunità? Penso sia il contrario; dovrebbe essere la società ad integrarsi con la persona in difficoltà, a saper comunicare con lui, a non aver paura.
How is a person with a disability received in society? And his family? Is it the disabled person who must integrate with the community where he/she lives? I think it’s the opposite society should integrate with the person in difficulty, know how to communicate with him/her, and not be afraid.
Incontri è un progetto di Reggio Emilia Città senza Barriere-Comune di Reggio Emilia. Nasce dall’invito ad artisti, designer, fotografi e creativi a realizzare progetti e opere originali in dialogo con persone “con fragilità”.
Incontri (Encounters) is a project within the initiative Reggio Emilia: City Without Barriers of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia. In this project, artists, designers, photographers, and creatives are invited to create original projects and works in dialogue with people with fragilities.
Esplorando gli archivi dei musei Civici, la scoperta dello sconosciuto erbario di Antonio Casoli Cremona diventa per l’artista Alessandra Calò (Taranto, 1977) uno spunto per riflettere su nuovi modi di concepire l’immagine.
Exploring the archives of the Civic Museums, the discovery of the unknown herbarium by Antonio Casoli Cremona becomes for the artist Alessandra Calò (Taranto, 1977) a starting point to reflect on new ways of conceiving the image.
Per questo progetto, l’artista ha guidato un gruppo di sei persone “con fragilità” nella costituzione di un erbario ideale: un erbario rayografico dove il concetto di bellezza si allarga fino ad includere l’imperfezione, la fragilità e la marginalità.
For the Encounters project, the artist-led a group of six people “with fragility” in the constitution of an ideal herbarium: a rayographic herbarium where the concept of beauty expands to include imperfection, fragility and marginality.
Nasce così Herbarium, risultato di un percorso durato quattro mesi, in cui la pratica artistica si fonde con la sensibilità e lo sguardo dei partecipanti, lo stesso di quando, sfogliando le pagine di un antico erbario, scoprono che “i fiori sono rimasti rosa”.
Thus was born Herbarium, the result of a path that lasted four months, in which the artistic practice merges with the sensitivity and the gaze of the participants, the same as when, leafing through the pages of an ancient herbarium, they discover that “the flowers have remained pink “.
Trovo che l’incontro con l’arte sia sempre un’esperienza che possa:
- coinvolgere le persone che spesso sono tenute ai margini della società, non considerate, ritenute non uguali agli altri
- essere testimonianza di come si evolve l’uomo nei secoli e di come lo sguardo dell’individuo possa dare il suo personale contributo
- essere metafora di vita: ogni persona è come una pianta diversa in un meraviglioso giardino.
I find that the encounter with art is always an experience that can:
- involve people who are often kept on the margins of society, not considered, considered not equal to others
- be a testimony of how man has evolved over the centuries and how the individual’s gaze can make a personal contribution
- be a life metaphor: each person is like a different plant in a wonderful garden.
La mostra di questo lavoro di gruppo è stata esposta al festival di Fotografia Europea di Reggio Emilia che si è concluso lo scorso 12 giugno. The exhibition of this group work was exhibited at the Reggio Emilia European Photography Festival which ended last June 12th.
Ci dovrebbe essere sempre un progetto “Incontri” in ogni città in cui ogni persona fragile o no, possa poter sentirsi accolta e meno sola, anche grazie all’arte. There should always be an “Encounters” project in every city in which a person who is fragile or not, can feel welcomed and less alone, also thanks to art.
